Red Hawks Earn Second Shutout of the Season

October 19, 2008

Box Score

RIPON, Wis. - After a scoreless first half Sunday against Knox College, the Red Hawks put together a pair of goals within minutes of each other in the second period, defeating the Prairie Fire 2-0 for their first Midwest Conference victory of the season.

The two teams played at the same level for much of the game, with Ripon (3-12-1, 1-6-1) having a one shot advantage, 9-8. The first half was uneventful for both offenses, but Ripon ended that in the 62nd minute on Kris Hanson's second goal of the season. Nearly two minutes later, Chris Quillman found the back of the net for the fifth time this year. Kevin Cederholm and Addison Ransom assisted on those respective scores.

Ryan Crane earned the first complete-game shutout of his career. The freshman goalkeeper played all 90 minutes, saving three shots from the Prairie Fire (5-9, 1-6 MWC).
