Three First-Half Goals Lead UW-Oshkosh Past Red Hawks

OSHKOSH, Wis. - UW-Oshkosh jumped on Ripon early in Tuesday night's non-conference match. The Titans scored their first of three first-half goals just four and a half minutes into the game, en route to a 4-0 victory. UW-O had the advantage in nearly every statistical category, including shots. The Titans out shot the Red Hawks 26-4, with Ripon's only shots coming in the first period.

UW-Oshkosh's Evan Maly netted his second goal of the season for the first goal of the game. Ripon's defense then stepped up, until eight minutes before the half, when Andy Domer scored in the 37th minute for his first goal of the season. One minute later, Greg Jones gave the Titans a 3-0 advantage before the half. The Titans (9-1-1) didn't waste much time in the second half, scoring just one minute after the break on Mike Franzen's third goal of the season.

Ripon goalkeeper Ryan Crane played all 90 minutes, saving 13 shots for the Red Hawks (2-10). UW-Oshkosh posted their fifth consecutive shutout with this win, as they haven't allowed a goal in their last 531 minutes. The Red Hawks remain winless against the Titans, with UW-O leading the all-time series 23-0-2.

The Red Hawks will now focus on conference play this weekend. They will travel south to face Illinois College on Saturday, before squaring off with Monmouth on Sunday. Those games will each begin at 1:30 p.m., in Jacksonville, Ill. and Monmouth, Ill., respectively.
