LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Ripon didn't get off to the start to the conference season that they had hoped for Saturday afternoon at Lake Forest. The Red Hawks fell behind early and their fate was sealed late, losing 2-0 to the Foresters. Ripon did have more shots on the day, but none of them found the net.
Lake Forest scored their first goal in the 10th minute when John Fagan notched his first score of the season, on a pass from Andi Keca. The game would stay 1-0 for the next 72 minutes, until Fagan scored again, giving Lake Forest a much-needed insurance goal.
Ripon's seven shots in the game came from four different people. Demba Camara shot three times, while Marco Rhein shot twice and Chris Quillman and Addison Ransom each had one. Matt Schultz was solid between the pipes, saving five shots, while playing the full 90 minutes.
The Red Hawks will try to rebound next Saturday, when they'll travel to Beloit College. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be preceded by the women's contest against the Buccaneers.
