Red Hawks Falter At Illinois College

October 11, 2008

Box Score

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Ripon lost their fifth consecutive conference game of the season Saturday afternoon, losing 3-0 at Illinois College. The Blueboys scored two goals in the first half, before adding another in the second period to secure the victory. The Red Hawks were able to get 12 shots off during the game, but could not connect on any, as Illinois College recorded six saves.

The Blueboys (6-6, 2-1 MWC) opened the scoring in the 18th minute on a goal by Brian O'Conner, who was assisted by Corey Marin. Marin was on the other end of things 11 minutes later, connecting on Illinois College's second goal of the game, thanks to a pass from Matt Oller. Marin scored his second goal of the game just three minutes after halftime, with the assist credited to Jose Roig.

The Red Hawks (2-11, 0-5) have now lost nine games in a row and haven't scored a goal since a 2-1 double overtime loss to Lawrence on September 24. They will try to break that streak on Sunday, when they'll travel to Monmouth College, which is the only other team without a conference win this season. That game will begin at
1:30 p.m. and will be preceded by the women's contest with the Fighting Scots.
