Beloit Sneaks By Red Hawks

September 20, 2008

Box Score

BELOIT, Wis. - For the third time this season, the Red Hawks held their opponent to just two goals, but still managed to lose, as they fell 2-1 at Beloit College on Saturday. The game was tightly contested throughout, with the Buccaneers scoring the lone goal of the second half, to give them the victory. Nearly every statistic was almost even, including shots, with Beloit edging Ripon 20-18 in that category.

The Buccaneers (4-3-1, 1-1 MWC) struck first, scoring their first goal in the 11th minute on an unassisted shot by Bo Wilkins. Twelve minutes later, Ripon (2-5, 0-2 MWC) would tie it up on a goal from senior Kris Hanson. The game would stay knotted up at one until the second half.

After halftime, the two teams struggled to get anything going offensively. That was, until Beloit's Tom Slusher took a pass from Silas Connelly and found the back of the net for the go-ahead score.

The Red Hawks won't have much time to dwell on this loss, as they'll take a break from conference play on Sunday, to play Lakeland College. That game will begin at 2:30 p.m. in Sheboygan, Wis.
