Ripon Plays To Second Straight Tie

September 23, 2007

Box Score

RIPON, Wis. - For the third time this season, and second time in as many games, the Red Hawks ended a game with just as many goals as they allowed. Sunday, the Red Hawks played to a 3-3 tie in a non-conference battle against St. Mary's (MN).

St. Mary's (2-5-1) struck first in the 19th minute on a penalty kick from Joey Manley. That lead wouldn't be very safe, as Ripon (4-1-3) tied things up just two minutes later on Chris Quillman's first goal of the season, thanks to an assist by Jared Brown. Brown assisted on Ripon's next goal as well, which came off the foot of Demba Camara, giving Ripon their only lead of the game. Two minutes later, just before halftime, the score was knotted up again, thanks to another penalty kick goal by Manley.

St. Mary's Jermaine Walker gave the Cardinals the lead again in the 54th minute. That lead lasted a while, until Quillman scored his second goal of the game with 12 and a half minutes left in regulation. The two teams played evenly from there and after two overtimes, the two teams left with a tie, extending Ripon's unbeaten streak to seven games.

The Red Hawks will continue their non-conference schedule on Wednesday, when they'll travel to Rock Island, Ill. to tangle with Augustana. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
