Ripon Comeback Falls Short At St. Norbert

October 13, 2007

Box Score

De PERE, Wis. - St. Norbert took a commanding three goal lead in the second half of Saturday's game against the Red Hawks, but Ripon battled back, scoring two goals in the second half. They couldn't muster a third score however, as they lost 3-2 to the Green Knights, who remain undefeated in conference play.

St. Norbert (8-5, 6-0) scored just once in the first half, putting the ball in the net off the foot of John Cremer, who notched his second goal of the season in the 32nd minute. The two teams held pat the rest of the half and Ripon entered the half trailing 1-0.

The Red Hawks (4-6-3, 2-3-1) allowed a second goal four minutes into the second half, as Donny Baloun scored his third goal of the year. The Green Knights added to that in the 68th minute on Pat Clancy's first score of the year. Ripon finally broke into the scoring column in the 77th minute, as Kris Hanson scored his fifth goal of the season, off a pass from Demba Camara. Hanson would add a second goal five minutes later, unassisted. The final seven and a half minutes were scoreless on both sides and St. Norbert escaped with the victory.

Ripon shot the ball eight times in the game, while St. Norbert got off 23 shots. Ripon goalkeeper Bob Bradbury made five saves, including four in the first half.

Ripon will try to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday, when they'll take on Carroll College. That game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Waukesha, Wis.
