MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Ripon and MSOE ended where they began Tuesday night, with the score even. The Red Hawks used a couple second half goals to tie the game at two and send it to overtime, but after a second extra period, the score ended in a 2-2 tie. That marks the first tie game Ripon has played since a 1-1 duel with Monmouth College on October 1, 2005.
MSOE (1-0-1) began Tuesday's game on a bright note, scoring the first goal of the game in the 12th minute of the first half on a Spencer Cook goal. Cook would add a second goal later in the half to give MSOE a 2-0 lead at halftime. Cook's two goals were assisted by James Burns and Brandon Crozier, respectively.
Ripon (1-1-1) finally got into the action in the 61st minute, as junior Jared Brown scored his first goal of the game, off a pass from Demba Camara. Brown wasn't done there. He would score another goal in the 78th minute to knot it up at two, which is where the two teams stood as time expired in regulation. After two ten minute periods, nothing was cleared up, as each team experienced their first tie of the season.
The Red Hawks will look to get more than just a tie on Saturday, when they'll host Lake Forest College in their first conference game of the season. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
