Wild Second Half Ends in Tie At Lawrence

September 18, 2007

Box Score

RIPON, Wis. - They didn't get a win, but Ripon's undefeated streak continued Tuesday night, as they ended in a

2-2 tie at Lawrence, extending their unbeaten streak to six games. The Red Hawks haven't lost since their season opener against Edgewood College on September 1.

The first half of play against Lawrence was pretty non eventful, with both teams deadlocked at zero going into halftime. The Vikings (2-4-1, 0-1-1) didn't waste any time in the second half, scoring just one and a half minutes into the period on a Doug McEneaney goal. Ripon (4-1-2, 2-0-1) evened the score 30 minutes later, as Jared Brown recorded his fourth goal of the season on a scramble in front of the Lawrence net. At that point, things were just beginning to heat up. Four minutes later, Lawrence grabbed the lead again, this time on a Vincent Butitta goal. One and a half minutes later, the score was knotted up again thanks to Ripon's Ben Gebauer, who scored his second goal of the year on a long shot from the right wing. Both teams went scoreless during the first overtime, despite Lawrence out shooting Ripon 6-1, and the game was called due to darkness before the second OT could begin.

Each team shot the ball 18 times in the game. Lawrence GoalKeeper Paul Richter made 10 saves, while Ripon GoalKeeper Bob Bradbury recorded nine saves in the game.

The Red Hawks will be in action once again on Sunday, in a non-conference match up against St. Mary's (MN). Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by the women's game.
