Red Hawks Unravel In Second Half

October 17, 2007

Box Score

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Ripon hung with Carroll for one half of play on Wednesday night, but five Pioneer goals in the second period led to a 6-0 Carroll victory. The Pioneers out shot Ripon 15 to 6 in the game, including a 7-2 advantage in the second half.

Carroll (9-5-1, 5-1), who retained sole possession of third place in the Midwest Conference standings, broke a scoreless tie in the 38th minute. Josh Wolf did the honors with his fourth goal of the season. Ripon goal keeper Matt Schultz kept things close, making seven saves in the first half.

The Red Hawks (4-7-3, 2-4-1) weren't as lucky in the second half, as they managed to save just two Carroll shots. The Pioneers put their second goal on the board in the 51st minute on Dona Lado's fourth score of the year. Andy Prentice extended that lead with his sixth score of the season to put the game further out of reach. Wolf and Brad Stockel added second half goals as well.

Ripon will try to find their winning ways again next week, as they'll host UW-Oshkosh on October 23. That non-conference game will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Prairie Field.
