WHITEWATER, Wis. - Ripon began Thursday's game on the right foot,
as it appeared that they may win their first game of the year after
Price Ward gave them a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game
at UW-Whitewater (6-2-1). Those hopes were dashed however, as the
Red Hawks (0-9) fell once again, 2-1.
Ward was the only person on either team to score in the first
half, scoring his fourth goal of the season on a pass from Roger
Gardea. That goal turned out to be Ripon's only shot all game.
UW-Whitewater on the other hand, was able to get 23 shots off,
including 16 in the second half.
UW-Whitewater waited until the second period to score their first
goal, coming in the 50th minute on a goal by Tim Cotter. Just thirty
seconds later, Cotter would find the back of the net once again
for his sixth goal of the season, which turned out to be the game-winner.
Ripon's next contest will be Wednesday against conference foe
St. Norbert. Gametime is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be preceded
by the women's contest against the Green Knights.
