MONMOUTH, Ill. - Ripon wrapped up their season Sunday in a way
that sums up their entire season, dropping their season finale
by one goal, 2-1 at Monmouth College. Ripon lost a total of eight
games by a single goal, including their final two games of the
season.
The Red Hawks (1-15, 1-8) fell behind early in the game on a goal
by Monmouth's Tom St. George in the 21st minute. St. George was
assisted by Sam Beciri and Brian Blanas on the play, giving St.
George his third goal of the season. Things would stay that way
for the rest of the half, as the Fighting Scots (5-8-3, 1-6-2)
took the lead into halftime.
Ripon didn't go out without a fight however. In the 57th minute,
Demba Camara booted his third goal of the season, knotting the
score up at one. Kris Hanson got the assist on the play. Just when
it looked like this game may be headed for overtime though, St.
George scored again, giving Monmouth the go-ahead goal in the 84th
minute.
