JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Red Hawk men's soccer team has had some
tough losses so far this season, losing six games by a single goal.
Saturday, they lost their seventh one-goal game, losing at Illinois
College 3-2.
Illinois College (3-10-2) got on the board first on a goal by
Chris Schulte in the ninth minute. Ripon (1-14) finally evened
the score in the 28th minute on a goal by Demba Camara.
This contest would go back and forth all day, as the Blueboys
took the lead once more just after halftime on a Brian O'Connor
goal. They added an insurance goal later in the half, as Gabe Cowan
scored off a Jon Reid pass. Ripon wouldn't say die though, as Camara
connected on his second goal of the game with just under 16 minutes
remaining. Neither team could muster another score the rest of
the way, as Illinois College took home the conference victory.
The Red Hawks will wrap up the season on Sunday with a game at
Monmouth University. Gametime is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and will
be preceded by the women's contest.
