RIPON, Wis. - For the first time this season, the Red Hawks had a player receive the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week award, as freshman guard Scott Gillespie picked up the honor on Monday, as released by the conference office. Gillespie nearly led Ripon to an upset of #3 UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, which the Red Hawks would eventually lose 71-67.

The Ripon, Wis. native netted a game-high 31 points in addition to grabbing two rebounds and handing out two assists in 36 minutes of action against the Pointers. Gillespie was 11-of-19 from the field, 2-of-6 from three-point range and 7-of-12 from free throw line in the game. His 31 points tied him for the most by an opponent against the UW-Stevens Point this season and upped his season scoring average to 24.5 points per game, which is second-best in the MWC.
