Schmitting Named All-Region

RIPON, Wis. - The men's basketball season has been over for nearly a month, but the awards continue to pile in for senior center Brian Schmitting. Wednesday, Schmitting was named to the NCAA Division-III Midwest All-Region Team. This marks Schmitting's first ever selection to the All-Region Team.

Schmitting, who was named to the MWC First-Team earlier this season, led the Red Hawks in scoring (17.7 ppg) and rebounding (10.0 rpg). The Hilbert, Wis. native averaged 22.1 points and 11.7 rebounds throughout the final nine games of the season, capped by his career-high 32 points and 13 rebounds in Ripon's 92-79 loss to Carroll College in the MWC semi-finals. Schmitting recorded a conference-high 10 double-doubles this season. In addition to points and rebounds, Schmitting also led the team in field goal percentage, shooting 65 percent (172-266) from the floor. He left his mark on the Red Hawk program, ranking 26th all-time in scoring (1,003 points) and fourth in rebounding (535), while leaving the school as the all-time leader in field goal percentage (69%).

Joining Schmitting on the Second Team was Grinnell's John Grotberg. MWC Player of the Year Nathan Drury represented Carroll College on the All-Region First Team.

Top
