 RIPON, Wis. -Ripon quarterback Tygh Walters enjoyed a career afternoon in Saturday's 48-17 win at Illinois College. Monday, Walters was honored for his efforts, with the Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week award.
Walters accounted for six touchdowns in the victory. The conference leader in passing efficiency entering the game, Walters maintained his rank by throwing for 173 yards and four touchdowns (7, 59, 13, 25) on 11-of-17 passing. The junior from West Bend, Wis. also keyed the Red Hawk rushing attack, running for 120 yards and two touchdowns (2, 5) on 22 carries.
The win leaves Ripon as one of three MWC teams with a 3-0 league mark and gave the Blueboys their first conference loss. The Red Hawks will host Carroll College this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Ripon's 2007 homecoming game.
