Four Red Hawks Named 1st Team All-Conference

RIPON, Wis. - The Midwest Conference released its Annual MWC Football All-Conference awards Wednesday, and 15 Red Hawks were honored for their hard work and dedication over the past year. Ripon received four first team selections, while also having one named to the second team, and 10 named Honorable Mention.

The only offensive player named to the first team was offensive lineman Mike Strelow, who helped pave the way for a Ripon running game that ran for the second most yards in school history. Strelow was joined on the first team by senior defensive lineman Mark Dedina, who finished the season with 32.5 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. Defensive backs Chris Kellett and Josh Kraemer were also named to the first team. Kellett was one of the leaders on defense, recording 33 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions, two fumbles recovered, and a league-leading four forced fumbles. Kraemer also had a solid year in the secondary, intercepting a team-high five passes, while also recording two sacks and recovering two fumbles, while forcing one.

The MWC second team consists of just one Red Hawk. Senior offensive lineman Mike Louison received the honors, as he was instrumental in Ripon's top ranked rushing attack. The Red Hawks ran for a total of 2,506 yards this season.

The Red Hawks who received Honorable Mention on offense included quarterback Bob Faulds, running backs John McGuire and Scott Perkins, and reciever Ted Bartels. Kraemer received Honorable Mention as a return specialist, leading the MWC in punt return average, with a 17.4 avg. The defensive Honorable Mention team included Ripon defensive lineman Kris Raisleger, linebacker and leading tackler Mike Krause, and defensive backs Brad Fehly, Danny Murphy, and Vince Spratte.
