RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawks showed what they could do Saturday at their lone home meet of the season, the Ripon College Invitational. The men's team finished second overall, just three points behind the winning team,
UW-Stevens Point. The women's team fared nearly as well, as they were third overall, finishing 33 points behind second-place Carroll College.
The men's team had a lot of success at the top of the standings. The top three finishers were all Red Hawks, led by Jim Hein, who finished first overall among individuals with a time of 26:53. He was followed by Harrison Smith and Bryan Schneider, who ran times of 27:17 and 27:28, respectively. Jason Smith also finished in the top ten, with a tenth place time of 28:19.
The Red Hawk women also experienced some success at the top of the standings. Ripon's Jessica Davey took fifth place, due to her time of 22:09. Rebecca Duley wasn't far off her pace, finishing seventh, with a time of 22:20. Erin Beggs was the only other Red Hawk to finish in the top 20, as she was 19th overall with a time of 23:38.
Ripon will hope to continue their success next week, as they'll take part in the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday. That meet will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Mequon, Wis.
