RIPON, Wis. - With Homecoming week coming to an end, the Ripon
cross country team's week was culminated with their hosting of
the 2006 Ripon Invitational. The meet brought out many good teams
from all around the state, as they went up against the Red Hawks.
The Women's team finished fourth out of 10 teams, as the Red Hawks
finished with 84 points. UW- Madison won the whole thing with a
score of 24. Ripon was led by Brittany Dick, who finished second
overall with a 5K time of 19:40. Jessica Davey was second on the
team, finishing 17th with a time of 21:30. Rebecca Duley wasn't
far behind, finishing 21st with a time of 22:06. Erin Beggs and
Whitney Levash also cracked the top 25 at 23rd and 25th with times
of 22:09 and 22:16, respectively.
The men's team had a similar finish, placing fourth out of 11
teams. The Red Hawks finished with 89 points as a team, while UW-Stevens
Point won the whole thing with 31. Ripon was led by Bryan Schneider's
third place finish, in which he ran an 8K time of 26:46. Jim Hein
was second to Schneider, finishing 17th with a time of 28:08. Harrison
Smith and Andy Peck also finished in the top 25. Smith was 18th
with a time of 28:13, while Peck finished 22nd with a time of 28:55.
The Red Hawks will next be in action next week at the Private
College Championships, which will be held at Beloit.
