TAMPA, Fla. – Ripon's terrific start to the season continued Thursday with their sixth consecutive victory. The Red Hawks defeated Colby-Sawyer (NH) in both games of a doubleheader, winning game one 3-2 and the second contest 16-7.

The two teams took four innings before scoring the first run in game one, as the Red Hawks (6-1) got on the board first thanks to an RBI single by Aaron Kastner, which scored Alex Duros from second base. Colby-Sawyer (3-5) answered with a run in the top of the fifth, but Ripon took the lead again in the bottom of the inning. The tie was broken by a sacrifice fly from Will Gillis. Colby-Sawyer tied the game again the following inning, but Ripon once again answered right back, with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. The winning run was scored by Matt Dwyer, who led off the inning with a triple.

Duros was the lone Red Hawk with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 on the day, while also scoring one run. Mike Lloyd (1-1) got the win, pitching a complete game five hitter, while striking out four and walking three.

The second game of the doubleheader was a much higher scoring affair, with Ripon taking a 14-5 lead after four innings of play. The Red Hawks started the game with a five-run first, thanks to five RBI singles. Colby-Sawyer nearly matched that with four runs in the bottom of the first, but Ripon was just getting started. They added another run in the second, on an RBI single by Duros, and three more runs in the third. That inning was highlighted by two RBI from Chucky Schara and one by Nate Paul.

The Red Hawks continued to pour it on in the fourth inning, which was led off by a walk to Gillis, followed by a Paul Ebben single. Gillis would score on a wild pitch, while Ebben crossed the plate when a Ripon player was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. They added three more runs in the inning, including two coming on a triple by Mac Shumann.

Colby-Sawyer added one run in the bottom of the fourth, while both teams put up a pair of runs in the sixth. The two squads combined for 27 hits in the game.

Ripon's Paul, Schara, Shumann, Duros, and Ebben each finished the game with two hits. Schara and Schumann also recorded a team-high three RBI apiece. Schara and Chris Rhode scored three runs each, to lead the team. Kurt Roeder went the distance on the mound, pitching all seven innings for his first collegiate win.

Ripon will again play a double-dip on Friday, as they'll face Cazenovia College (NY). The first game of the twin bill will begin at 10:00 a.m. EDT and will be played at GT Bray Park.
