Greetings from Ripon College!

My name is Margaret Kastein, admission representative for students in Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, northwest Wisconsin and the Chicagoland area. I hope I will have the opportunity to work with you and your family as you enter your college search. It’s such an exciting time!

As a student, I was active on campus, participating in intramurals (inner-tube water polo was my favorite!), yearbook and several work-studies, and I had four internships in different industries.

I graduated from Ripon College in 2003 (communication major and leadership studies minor) and jumped right into the interview process with several different companies. I believe my education set me apart from others. Potential employers were telling me that I had the critical-thinking skills, problem-solving skills and communication skills that employers were seeking. Having these skills alone make you so much more marketable to a potential employer or graduate school. In short, I was a product of quality, personal, liberal arts education -- it's visible, and it sets you apart from others.

After working in the Ripon College alumni office for more than two years planning all of the regional events for our 10,000 alumni all over the United States and beyond, I have transitioned to the admission office over the summer. This is my first year as an admission counselor; however, I interned with the admission office as a student and was active in the admission process while working in the alumni office.

You'll be surprised at the "Ripon connection" you feel when you are here and that you share with others. There is something about Ripon and the experiences you have here that cannot be manufactured. Best of luck to you in your college search. I hope you'll have an opportunity to visit campus!
