One-on-One Advising: A Must for Students in Pre-Law

Because we believe that each student comes to Ripon with his or her unique talents, needs and interests, our focus in the pre-law program is on individual advising.

The pre-law adviser will provide students with information about the legal profession to help them decide if law school is what they really want; help them (in cooperation with their major adviser) select the courses which will develop the skills important for law school; help them select the appropriate law schools to apply to; and help them through the application process.

While Ripon College does not offer a major in pre-law, students do have the opportunity to minor in Law and Society. This interdisciplinary program provides a network of courses designed to focus the student’s attention on the role of law and legal structure in modern society. Law is a primary means of ordering conduct and resolving social conflicts. The Law and Society minor seeks to help the student understand the function, nature and limits of the law.

Students interested in the Law and Society minor should see Professor Jackie Clark. Students interested in further pre-professional preparation for a career in law can contact me.
