The Welsh Club of the Milwaukee Area was formed
in 1952 as the Welsh Women's Club of the Milwaukee Area. Its purposes are to...
- keep alive the traditions and cultural characteristics of Welsh people,
- promote interest in civic affairs and community welfare,
- maintain bonds with people of North America of Welsh heritage or interest,
- keep alive present and past ties with Wales.
We meet five times a year--on the
first Saturday of the months of October, December, February, April and June,
usually. (Note: in 2007, the April meeting is on the second Saturday.)

this year's programs.

We're involved in many activities of the southeastern Wisconsin
area...
- Holiday Folk Fair held the weekend before Thanksgiving at Wisconsin State
Fair Park. We have a Welsh cultural exhibit staffed by costumed volunteers.
- World's Greates Cookie Sale held the weekend after Thanksgiving at Country
Inn in Waukesha. Our is one of the last ethnic groups to sell cookies, in
our case Welsh tea cakes and Bara Brith.
- Welsh Christmas tree at the Country Inn in Waukesha, on display from Thanksgiving
until after New Year's Day.

We offer...
- Music scholarships to college students of Welsh descent living in the State
of Wisconsin.
- Financial support to club members and family members attending Welsh-related
educational events.
- Interesting meetings. We begin with a social time followed by a luncheon
and a program. Recent and upcoming programs have included a knight in full
armor, harpist playing the Welsh triple harp, Welsh vocal music and lecture
presentations, and talks about various Welsh subjects.

We support...
- Other Welsh activities and organizations throughout the State of Wisconsin.
- Welsh artists visiting the southeastern Wisconsin area.
- The Celtic Women's Conference held in Milwaukee each October.
