Up in the dark,
No time to stop,
All be happy,
Reflecting light everywhere.

A moon gives light,
Reflecting light.

Welsh Poems into English
(translations by Iolo Wyn Williams)
Cerdd Gwion:
Lleuad hardd yn y gofod.
Edrychwn i fyny: oes yna ofodwyr?
Unig yw'r lleuad yn y gofod
Anferth fel pel fawr gron
Del yw yn y nos.
Gwion's poem:
A beautiful moon in space.
We look up: are there any astronauts there?
A lonely moon in space
Enormous like a large round ball
Very pretty at night.
Cerdd Dewi:
Lleuad llachar llon sy'n edrych drosom bob nos
Efallai mi fase yn edrych drosom drwy'r dydd.
Un diwrnod mi faswn yn hoffi y lleuad yn lliwgar,
Ar hyn o bryd mae o fel bol buwch.
Dydw i ddim yn hoffi y siap sydd arno nawr oherwydd mae fel pen buwch.
Dewi's poem:
The bright happy moon looks over us every night
And maybe during the daytime as well.
One day I would like to see a colourful moon
At the moment its like a cow's stomach
I don't like the shape it has just now because it's like a cow's
head.)
(Comments: 'Fel bol buwch' is a Welsh expression describing a dark, moonless night - less familiar in an era of light pollution, but maybe still meaningful in the countryside. Does the final line compare the new moon with a pair of horns? And if so how does this link with the 'bol buwch'? This poem makes you think.)

Professor Williams is a clever poet in his own right (and in both Welsh and
English). He couldn't resist including a few poems of his own, including a limerick.
Here they are:
Dyma ymdrechion y beirniad
1 Llygoden eglwys ungoes, a dylluan. (Dyna welais i wrth edrych ar y lleuad)
2 Llithrais, edrychais uwchben, a dihunais. (Stori fer iawn ydy hon!)
3 (Yna cofiais mai pum llinell sydd mewn limeric)
Lle hynod ddigroeso yw'r lloer,
Efallai fod Armstrong yn oer.
'Un cam bach i ddyn'
A thynnu ei lun,
Daeth adre heb lyncu ei boer.
