RESUME

Scholarly interests: My scholarly interests center in two related areas. First, I continue to explore English Renaissance literature, specially Spenser and Shakespeare. Second, growing out of an interest in Spenser's treatment of courtesy, I have been investigating the developing concepts of courtesy. This interest has led me to novels of the 18th century by, for, and about women. There is, of course, a close connection between courtesy and love (courting, courtship), so the connection to literary conventions of love is a natural outgrowth.
