Ripon's Johnson earns post-season recognition Russell Athletic and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) have recently selected Ripon Head Women's Basketball Coach Julie Johnson as the 2004 Region 7 Division III Coach of the Year. Johnson led her Red Hawks to a 15-1 mark in the Midwest Conference and 22-5 overall while claiming her second MWC title and finishing 1-1 in the NCAA Division III Tournament. March 23, 2004

Joanie Hammer and Amanda Guay named All-Conference
Joanie Hammer, senior guard from Fond du Lac, WI was named to the MWC first team. Amanda Guay, junior guard/forward from Marinette, WI was named to the MWC second team. Coach Johnson was named MWC coach of the year for the 2003-04 season with a 22-5 record.
Janine Emmer Earns 1st Team All-Region and MWC Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference
Junior Janine Emmer was named 1st Team All-Region by D3hoops.com. Janine was named to the Central Region. Janine lead the Ripon College Red Hawks to their best season ever finishing with a 22-5 record, the most wins in school history. Janine finished the season averaging 14.6 points per game, and hauling in 6.9 rebounds per game. Janine was named Midwest Conference Player of the Year for the 2003 - 2004 season. The Red Hawks won the Midwest Conference Championship then defeated Wheaton College in the 1st round of the NCAA basketball tournament. The Red Hawks lost their 2nd round game to UW-Stevens Point, a Final Four team. Janine Emmer is a Junior from Slinger, Wisconsin, she is a 2001 graduate of Slinger High School. She is the daughter of Allen and Darlene Emmer, both of Slinger, Wisconsin.

MWC Player of the Week
Its appropriate that this week’s Midwest Conference Performer of the Week in women’s basketball is from Slinger, Wisconsin. Ripon’s Janine Emmer dig her best gun-slinger imitation, averaging 18.7 points per game last week in earning her first Performer of the Week honor this season. The junior forward helped Ripon sweep the competition last week to stay atop the MWC standings at 13-0. Offensively, Emmer was 19 of 39 from the field, hit 18 of 23 free throws, and handed out four assists. Emmer’s contributions reached the defensive end as well, pulling down 21 rebounds, blocking five shots and recording six steals. Ripon continues to lead the Midwest Conference standings at 13-0.

JULIE JOHNSON SELECTED AS WOMEN'S D3 COACH OF THE MONTH
Women's Basketball Coach Julie Johnson has been selected as the Women's Division III News Coach of the Month for January. After a New Year's Day loss to Cal St. Monterey Bay, Johnson's Red Hawks rattled off eight straight victories through January 29th and currently sit atop the Midwest Conference standings at 10-0. Julie Johnson is the holder of the record for most wins as a coach in Ripon Women’s Basketball history with 179-135 record in her career. MWC Player of the Week
The Ripon Red Hawks are perched atop the Midwest Conference standings and part of that is due to the play of Joanie Hammer, the MWC Performer of the Week in women’s basketball. Hammer (Fond du Lac, Wis./Goodrich) paced Ripon in their last three games averaging 14 ppg as the Red Hawks capped a 3-0 week with wins over St. Norbert, Illinois College and Lake Forest. The senior guard collected a game high 19 points in Ripon’s win over Lake Forest, giving them sole possession of 1st place. For the week, shot 13-23 from the field, she was 5-7 from the 3-point arc, 11-11 on free throws, she had 7 rebounds, 42 total points), 10 assists and 7 steals

Sophomore Karalyn Dehn has been named Red Hawk of the Week for the week ending November 30th, 2003. Against Edgewood College, she shot 7-10 from the field and 2-3 from the line to finish with 16 points in 17 minutes of play. Karalyn also had eight rebounds, six of them were from the offensive end. The Red Hawks are 2-1.

Junior Forward Janine Emmer has been named Red Hawk of the Week for the week ending November 23rd, 2003. Over the weekend the Red Hawk Women's basketball team competed in the Lakeland Pre-Season Tip-Off Tournament finishing 1-1. In the 2 game tournament Emmer was named to the All-Tournament Team. She averaged 16.5 points per game, she was 7 for 7 from the free-throw line and she hauled in 11 rebounds. Emmer is a 2001 graduate of Slinger High School and is the daughter of Allen and Darlene Emmer of Slinger, Wisconsin.

November 20, 2002Karin Kedrowski wins Midwest Conference Ruth Peterson Award for Academic Excellence
Senior Karin Kedrowski, a Psychology major, was selected to receive the Ruth Peterson Award for Women. The Ruth Peterson Award is presented in recognition of her commitment and dedication to the Midwest Conference. Each member school nominates each fall a female scholar-athlete who satisfies the following criteria: - during her junior year earned at least two varsity awards in conference sports sponsored by the school and achieved the highest grade point average during her junior year. Karin participated in tennis and women's basketball. Karin is the second consecutive Ripon College Female Athlete to receive the Ruth Peterson Award. In 2001 Julie Kaczmarcek received the prestigious honor. Karin is the daughter of Bruce and Susan Kedrowski of Plover, Wisconsin. Karin is also a 1999 graduate of Stevens Point Pacelli High School.
November 25, 2002Molly Kneip Earns Red Hawk of the Week Honor
Senior Molly Kneip was named as one of the Ripon College's Red Hawks of the Week for the week ending November 24. Molly lead the Red Hawks to two key victories over the weekend as Ripon won its own tournament. Ripon defeated Coe College 74-51, then in the championship game defeated UW-LaCrosse 75-69. For the tournament Molly was 8 for 22 from the field, she was 4 for 9 on 3 point attempts, she was 7 for 9 from the free throw line, she had 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals and scored a total of 27 points. She was named the tournaments MVP. Molly Kneip is a 1999 graduate from Appleton East High School. She is the daughter of Don and Kathy Keddell of Appleton, WI.

MVP Molly Kneip, senior guard Karin Kedrowski and junior guard Joanie Hammer were all named to the Ripon College All-tournament team. The three of them averaged 39 points a game for the tournament. Joanie Hammer shot 15-16 from the free throw line for the weekend. Karin hit 5-11 from three point range and Molly Kneip was 4-9.

Janine Emmer Earns Red Hawk of the Week Honor
Sophomore Janine Emmer was named as one of the Ripon College's Red Hawks of the Week for the week ending December 1st. Janine has helped the Red Hawks Women's Basketball team to an early 2-1 season start. Wins have come over Coe College and UW-LaCrosse, with the Red Hawks only lose to UW-Stevens Point. Emmer is averaging 5 rebounds a game, 9 points per game and is shooting 40% from the field. Her top game was against UW-Stevens Points; she scored 13 points and was 5 for 8 from the field. Emmer is a 2001 graduate of Slinger High School and is the daughter of Alien and Darlene Emmer of Sling, Wisconsin.

Senior guard, Karin Kedrowski has been named Red Hawk of the Week for the week ending December 8th. Over the last week Karin helped run the Red Hawks record to 4-1. In victories over Marian College (80-44) and Edgewood College (61-48) Karin averaged 18 points, 1.5 assists per game, 4 steals per game and shot 50% from the field. Kedrowski is a 1999 graduate of Stevens Point Pacelli High School and is the daughter of Bruce and Susan Kedrowski of Plover, Wisconsin.
Lady Red Hawks Defeat Edgewood College In Non - Conference Match Up
Ripon, WI - The Ripon College Lady Red Hawks defeat Edgewood College 61-45 Saturday at Ripon. The win improved Ripon's record to 4 -1 on the season. The loss dropped Edgewood to 1-5- Leading the way for the Red Hawks were Karin Kedrowski who had 20 points, Molly Kneip whom added 7 rebounds and Lindsey Gorske who had 6 assists. On the defensive end the Lady Red Hawks also had 17 steals for the game. Edgewood was led by Jody Henze who had 13 points, Katie Hensgen added 7 rebounds, all of which where defensive, and Rian Bauerkemper added 3 assists.
Karin Kedrowski scores her 1,000th career point versus Edgewood College
Senior guard Karin Kedrowski scored her 1,000 point when the Red Hawks defeated Edgewood College 61-48. Her present season scoring total stands at 1,040 points which puts her 5th All-Time on the Women's scoring list Karin currently trails Heather Schneider (1992-1996) for 4th on the All-Time Scoring list by 1 point. She should move into 4th place as the Red Hawks take on the St. Norbert Green Knights on Thursday, January 9th. Erika Smith is the Ripon College All-Time Scoring leader with 1,327 points, Erika played from 1994-1998. Karin Kedrowski is a 1999 graduate of Stevens Point Pacelli High School. She is the daughter of Bruce and Susan Kedrowski, both of Stevens Point.
Jocelyn Johnson Earns Red Hawk of the Week Honor
Freshman Jocelyn Johnson has been named Red Hawk of the Week for the week ending December 15th. Jocelyn was named Red Hawk of the Week for her performance versus Beloit College. Against Beloit College Jocelyn helped the Red Hawks run their season record to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. In the game Jocelyn scored 8 points going 4 for 4 from the field in 10 minutes of playing time. Jocelyn is a 2002 graduate of Norway High School, she is the daughter of Duane and Shirley Johnson of Vulcan, MI.

Sophomore Amanda Guay has been named Red Hawk of the Week for the week ending January 19'", 2003. Over the last week Guay helped the Ripon College win 3 games as the Red Hawks ran their season record to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play. In wins over Carroll (69-64), Grinnell (68-27) and Knox College (71-55), Guay scored 31 points (12 for 19 from the field), she grabbed 9 rebounds, added 3 assists, 4 steals and shot 7 for 7 from the free-throw line. Guay is a 2001 graduate of Marinette Catholic High School and is the daughter of Brian and Vicki Guay of Marinette, Wisconsin.

Freshman Karalyn Dehn has been named Red Hawk of the Week for the week ending January 26th, 2003. Over the last week the Red Hawks split a pair of road games, defeating Illinois College 81-73, then dropping their first conference game of the season to Lake Forest, 66-55, bringing their season record to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in Midwest Conference play. In the two games Karalyn averaged 9.5 points per game coming off the bench. She also added 7 rebounds and shot 9 of 17 from the field and was also 1 for 2 from the free throw line. Karalyn is a 2002 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and is the daughter of Mark and Lynne Dehn of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

Senior Molly Kneip, a guard from Appleton East, has been named Midwest Conference Player of the week and Red Hawk of the Week for the week ending February 222nd, 2003. Kneip scored 24 points as Ripon defeated Carroll College to end their regular season with a 19-4 record. Ripon will play Lake Forest in DePere in a Midwest Conference Tournament semi-final. This is the third time in the last four years that the Red Hawks have participated in the MWC Tournament. Kneip is a 1999 graduate of Appleton East and is the daughter of Don and Kathy Keddell and Chris Kneip.
