Meet the Dietriches. |
Mom is most important, right? Maria recently retired from 15 years as Administrative Director of the Green Lake Festival of Music. We are excited to have her back as a member of the family in the summer. She continues to teach piano lessons at home and at Ripon College and plays organ at church. She is moving into some serious work in graphic design, particularly in developing brochures, newsletters and websites. Besides all this, she is a great mom and wife.
Erik is currently (10/06) 22 years old. He graduated last spring from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. After spending a couple of years doing almost all of his work in the Conservatory of Music, he decided to be an English major. This past summer he has been searching for how to use that liberal arts education, while working at various temporary jobs. (He is still active in music, both as an electric bassist and guitarist, and as a serious student of music history -- past and current.) Graduate school may be in the future.
Paul is now 18 (10/06). He follows the family muse by playing trumpet, piano, and, somewhat to the chagrin of his mother, drum set, electric bass and guitar. After a wonderful time at Ripon High School, he graduated last spring and has now followed the rest of the family to Lawrence. Although he is not officially in the Conservatory there, he is in the "top" freshman music theory class and is playing in four different music groups. He is getting fanatical about jazz -- a wonderful thing in many ways, but is there a career in it?
And I shouldn't forget Susie, a beautiful, sassy golden retriever who came to live with us as a pup in October 1998. She's now eight years old, but still feisty and fun.
