Off-Campus Study
Students at Ripon can take advantage of numerous off-campus study
programs which are offered through the college's affiliation with
the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. Among these programs, of
particular interest to English majors are The Arts of London and
Florence, in which coursework in art and architecture, drama, literature
and history is supplemented by excursions to museums, galleries
and theaters in England and Italy; The Newberry Library program
in Chicago, which provides students with an opportunity to tap
into the millions of books and manuscripts held by this leading
center of research in the humanities; and the Chicago Semester
in the Arts, which exposes students to Chicago's vital arts scene
with introductions to contemporary theater, visual art and performance,
music, dance, literature and film.
Ripon College operates several programs independently, including
the Ripon and York St John Exchange. Traditional ties between Ripon,
Yorkshire, England, and Ripon, Wisconsin, led to the establishment
of a student exchange program with the College of Ripon and York
St. John. Students from England trade places with Ripon College
students for one semester of residence and study. This program
is geared particularly toward students with interests in literature
and history.
