Study of English Promotes Excellence in Communication
The major in English at Ripon College is a study of the best
that is known, thought and written in the world of literature.
In classes that average fewer than 20 students, in-depth
discussion and close attention to writing skills are possible,
fostering excellence in reading, verbal and written communication,
and critical analysis.
The English major at Ripon prepares students for diverse careers
in fields such as English, law, journalism, theatre and education.
Many graduates go directly into careers in public relations,
politics, industry, medical and health professions, library science,
and publishing and writing. Employers continue to show high respect
for job candidates with degrees in English who possess excellent
command of the written and spoken word. Clearly, the value of
such communication skills cannot be overestimated.
