{ Title II Report }

A Notice to Students

The Educational Studies Department curriculum is reviewed and has been approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. All students seeking a teaching license are required to meet the standards addressed in this Handbook, the College Catalog and the pertinent advising materials distributed by the department. Students should meet regularly with their educational studies/exercise science advisers to ensure compliance with relevant requirements and standards. Each student is responsible for knowing and meeting the requirements for his/her program in a timely manner.

Title II Report

During the 2007-2008 academic year, the Educational Studies Department at Ripon College had 130 students officially enrolled in major, minor and/or licensure programs. During that year, 32 students successfully completed their student teaching during fall and spring semesters. Two students withdrew from student teaching in the fall semester. Three students did not meet the requirements to qualify for student teaching. Eight students chose to student teach at a distance beyond our capacity to serve them. Each was observed by qualified supervisors from other colleges or universities. Two of the eight taught at foreign schools through the Global Student Teaching Program of the University of Minnesota at Morris and were supervised by GSTP staff. Our student teacher to staff ratio was 6.8:1; however, if the six independent observers are included in the calculation, the ratio would have been 3.1:1. Ripon College supervisors usually conduct a minimum of six observations of each student teacher; the state of Wisconsin requires four.
