Appreciation of Evolution, Culture and Society is Found in Anthropology

Anthropology emphasizes the study of human biological and cultural evolution and uses a holistic and comparative approach in the study of culture. Anthropology allows the student to gain a greater appreciation of the world and its people. It thus plays an important role in the commitment of Ripon College to the liberal arts tradition.

The small size of the department is conducive to both a friendly atmosphere and a close working relationship between faculty and students. Classes encourage independent thinking and discussion, and close attention is given to the development of students' research and writing skills.

Ripon is one of the few colleges in Wisconsin to offer continuing archaeological field work as part of regularly taught classes.
