Roeder helped the Red Hawks win the field position battle in Saturday’s 28-10 home victory over Knox. The freshman punter averaged 37.2 yards per kick on five punts, with a long of 62 yards and a pair of punts inside the 20-yard line. He also added a tackle and broke up a pass as a defensive back.

Walters enjoyed a career afternoon in a 48-17 win at Illinois College, as the junior quarterback accounted for six touchdowns in the victory. The conference leader in passing efficiency entering the game, Walters maintained his rank by throwing for 173 yards and four touchdowns (7, 59, 13, 25) on 10-of-17 passing. The 5-11, 180-pound QB also keyed the Red Hawk rushing attack, which produced 349 yards on the ground, with 120 yards and two touchdowns (2, 5) on 21 carries. The win leaves Ripon as one of three MWC teams with a 3-0 league mark and gave the Blueboys their first conference loss.

Kraemer became the first player in the MWC this season to return a kickoff for a touchdown when the junior cornerback took a second quarter kick back 84 yards for a touchdown, giving Ripon a 13-7 lead in Saturday's 28-26 loss to Carroll. Kraemer finished with game with five kick returns for 162 yards and also returned one punt 13 yards. On defense, he intercepted a pass, made three tackles and one tackle for loss.

Kraemer led the Red Hawk’s defensive unit in Saturday’s

56-9 win at Beloit. The junior defensive back intercepted two passes in the game, including a second quarter pick that he returned 53 yards for a touchdown, giving Ripon a 35-3 lead just before halftime. Kraemer, who added a 19-yard kickoff return in the contest, made one tackle in the game. He has team-high three interceptions this season and leads the MWC in kickoff return average (25.4).

Kraemer made a variety of special teams plays during the Red Hawks’ 27-20 win over Monmouth that put Ripon in sole possession of second place in the MWC. The junior defensive back, who ranks first in the league in kickoff returns and second in punt returns, averaged 27.3 and 16.0 yards per return on kickoffs and punts in the game, respectively. Three of Ripon’s four scoring drives in the game occurred after Kraemer returned the ball (2 punts, 1 kickoff) into Monmouth territory. Kraemer, who also handled Ripon’s kickoff duties, blocked a third quarter field goal that would have given Monmouth the lead and made three tackles in the game.

McGuire led the way for a Ripon rushing attack that ran for 460 yards, the fourth-best single-game total in school history, during a 47-21 win at Grinnell on Saturday. The senior running back, who carried 12 times for 127 yards against the Pioneers, reached the endzone three times on runs of 13, 11 and 18 yards. One of his two receptions in the game also went for a score, as McGuire caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Alvin’s play has been one of the biggest reasons the Red Hawks are off to a 5-1 start in conference play, including league wins over Lake Forest (3-2) and Lawrence (3-1) in their only action last week. The 5-10 freshman middle hitter recorded 14 kills apiece against the Foresters and Vikings, while also adding 10 blocks, eight digs, three assists and a pair of service aces in the two matches. During Ripon’s current five-match wining streak, Alvin is averaging over nine kills per match and leads the team with 124 on the season.

OFFENSE

Camara ended the Red Hawks’ four-game conference losing streak when the junior midfielder’s blast from nearly 35-feet away found the back of the net. The goal, which came in the 77th minute, lifted Ripon to a 2-1 home victory over Lake Forest. Camara also added an assist on a Jared Brown goal in Tuesday’s match against MSOE. Ripon trailed 2-0 at the time, before rallying to finish in a 2-2 tie.

September 25, 2007: Week #4

Gina Heckl

Heckl was the model of consistency en route to becoming the top MWC finisher among a deep field at Saturday and Sunday’s UW-Whitewater Invitational. The senior shot 87 in both rounds to card a 36-hole total of 174, which tied her for 22nd place individually among the field of 85. The scores place Heckl among the top 10 for the MWC’s best 18-hole rounds this season.
October 2, 2007: Week #5

Suring, Wis./Suring

Heckl is the MWC Performer of the Week for the second straight week after the Red Hawk senior fired the MWC’s top round heading into this weekend’s MWC Championship. Heckl’s previous season-best was an 86, before she shot an opening 18-hole round of 76 at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. She followed with an 85 (161) on day two to finish in a tie for third-place individually in the 45-player field.

MEN

Ripon, Wis./Ripon

Hein’s second-place individual finish at Saturday’s St. Norbert Tom Barry Invitational helped the Red Hawks defeat the host Green Knights via a tiebreaker for the meet’s team title. The senior ran a time of 21:02.00 on the four-mile course, which placed him eight seconds behind the individual champion.
September 25, 2007: Week #4

WOMEN

Jessica Davey

Sophomore

Berlin, Wis./Berlin

Davey crossed the finish line tenth in a field of 85 runners at Saturday’s Concordia (WI) Invitational. The sophomore recorded a time of 24:38 at the 5K event, which ranked 12th among the top times in the conference thus far this season. With Davey leading the way, the Red Hawks finished fourth as a team.

MEN

Ripon, Wis./Ripon

Hein is the MWC Performer of the Week for the second time this season after the senior won Saturday’s Ripon Invitational. Hein covered the 8K course in 26:53, besting his closest competitor by 24 seconds and helping the Red Hawks place second as a team. The event featured 46 individual runners and 10 teams.
