Haddock hit .481 (13-27) with 12 RBI and 12 runs scored last week, as Red Hawks ran their winning streak to 11 games overall and improved to 4-0 in MWC play after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders from Lawrence. The senior third basemen, who also recorded a win and a save in three mound appearances last week, hit two home runs, a triple and five doubles. Haddock currently ranks in the Top 5 in the conference in slugging percentage (.733), RBI (21), doubles (8) and total bases (44).

Basthemer appeared in a trio of conference contests against Beloit last week, earning a win and a save to help the Red Hawks sweep the four-game set. Basthemer earned the victory in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader, as he allowed one run over the course the final three innings during Ripon’s 4-3 victory. The junior righty came in to face the final batter of the game against the Bucs in game one on Saturday, recording a strikeout en route to a 6-3 victory and his first save of the season. Basthemer, who struck out five in 5.1 innings of work on the week, tossed two innings in Saturday’s nightcap.

Monigal was 6-for-9 at the plate in a doubleheader sweep over St. Norbert on Saturday and registered eight total hits last week. Monigal drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs as the Red Hawks edged the Green Knights 4-2 and 5-2 to clinch a berth in the 2006 MWC Championship tourney. The win in game one also ended St. Norbert’s MWC-record 21-game conference winning streak. Monigal added a pair of hits and scored a run as Ripon dropped a pair of games (4-1, 11-6) to regional power UW-Stevens Point earlier in the week.
May 1, 2006 : Week #7

Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc

Collins pitched the nightcap of the Red Hawks two-game sweep against St. Norbert on Saturday, going the distance in the nine-inning contest to earn the win and help Ripon clinch a berth in the MWC Championship tournament. Collins allowed five hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out two as Red Hawks edged the Green Knights 5-2. Collins, who did not allow a run in the final eight innings of the game against St. Norbert, improved to 4-0 on the season with the effort.

Schwendimann’s offensive production keyed Ripon’s four-game sweep of Carroll last week. The senior catcher was 9-15 at the plate with six runs scored and seven RBI. Schwendimann’s effort pushed him into a tie for the team’s top batting average (.376) and helped the Red Hawks become the 11th team in league history to register a perfect MWC record and the first to finish with a 16-0 mark.

February 14, 2006 : Week #1

Paul VandenBoogaard

Senior

Oshkosh, Wis.

Vanden Boogaard teamed up with Dave Czarnecki on Sunday to win at No. 1 doubles against Lake Forest (8-4). The doubles point was the difference in the Red Hawks 4-3 win over the Foresters. The day before, the duo took the top flight crown at the Ripon Doubles Invitational 6-4, 7-6. In singles action, Vanden Boogaard was undefeated last week, posting No. 1 victories against the top players from UW-La Crosse (3-6, 6-1, 10-6) and Lake Forest 6-2, 7-5.
February 28, 2006 : Week #3

Paul VandenBoogaard

Oshkosh, Wis.

Vanden Boogaard notched wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles against Concordia (WI) last week to remain undefeated on the season at both. The senior teamed with David Czarnecki to earn the doubles victory (8-4), before knocking off the Falcon’s top singles player 6-2, 6-0. Vanden Boogaard is being honored as the MWC Performer of the Week for the second time this season.

Camara bested a competitive field at last weekend’s UW-Oshkosh Invitational to win a pair of field events. Camara posted career-best performances in the triple jump (21’08.75”) and long jump (21’’07.75”) en route to individual victories in both events. The freshman’s marks in both events rank in the Top 5 in the MWC this season.

May 2, 2006 : Week #5  

TRACK

Dave Billings

Senior

Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect

Billings won two events at the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday. Billings opened up with a victory in the 1,500-meter run (4:03.54) and completed a very difficult double by winning the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:15.18. The senior currently ranks first in the 5,000m and fourth in the 1,500m in the MWC.

TRACK

Brittany Dick

Sophomore

Amherst, Wis./Amherst

Dick broke the school steeple chase record in her second time running the event en route to a time of 11:40.67 and a first-place finish. The time was also tops in the conference this season. The sophomore placed second in the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 2:24.17, before capping off her day by running a leg on the Red Hawks third place 4x400 relay team. Dick’s effort led Ripon to a third place team finish at the event.

April 24, 2006 : Week #6

PITCHER

Jen Mueller

RHP

Junior

Little Suamico, Wis./Oconto Falls

Mueller posted three wins and a save for the Red Hawks last week, as the team went 4-2 and clinched a berth in the 2006 MWC Championship. In the Red Hawk’s 3-2 win over Carroll, Mueller pitched seven innings, giving up two hits and one earned run. In game two, she picked up the save after allowing one hit in two innings of action. The junior righty closed her week with a complete-game shutout victory over Beloit on Saturday and added another complete-game effort during an 8-5 victory against Marian on Sunday.
