VandenBoogaard Steps Down As Head Coach

June 18, 2008

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon men's tennis coach Paul VandenBoogaard announced his resignation on Wednesday, ending his two-year stint as head coach of the Red Hawks. In his two seasons, VandenBoogaard's teams finished with a combined record of 12-19, including a 6-2 mark in conference play. The Red Hawks won the Midwest Conference North Division during his first season, with a perfect 4-0 record in the MWC.

"Paul did a very good job with our men's tennis program the past two years, after replacing the legendary Chuck Larson, who retired after the 2006 season," Ripon Athletic Director Bob Gillespie said. "Paul has maintained the quality of the program in his time at Ripon College."

VandenBoogaard jumped into the head coaching position prior to the 2007 season, one year after graduating from Ripon College, where he had tremendous success in his four years as a player for the Red Hawks. As a freshman, the Oshkosh, Wis. native won the singles and doubles conference titles playing number three singles and number two doubles, while also helping his team to a team championship that season.
