Six Red Hawks Named To All-Conference Team

May 8, 2009

Full MWC Release

RIPON, Wis. – Ripon finished the regular season with the Midwest Conference's best record and several key players from the team were honored Thursday with the release of the 2009 MWC All-Conference Team. The Red Hawks had six players named to the team, including First Team selections Natalie Geenen, Andrea Knorr, Brittnee Peotter and Jackie Reichhart. Making the second team for the Red Hawks were Alli Jensen and Megan Sockness.

Geenen led Ripon in nearly every offensive category, batting .359 with 13 doubles, seven triples, three home runs, 23 RBI, 35 runs scored and 15 stolen bases. Her triples and runs scored were tops in the MWC. This marks the fourth time the senior shortstop has been named to the MWC First Team, which includes Player of the Year honors in 2007 and 2008.

This season marks Knorr's second All-Conference selection of her career. The senior pitcher finished the season 10-8 with a 2.29 ERA and 85 strikeouts, en route to becoming Ripon's career leader in that category. Knorr also set a single season school record with three saves this season.

Peotter was just as big a part to Ripon's pitching staff, as she earned her first All-Conference award thanks to leading the MWC with a 2.08 ERA. In addition to that, the sophomore broke Ripon's single season strikeout record with 125 this year. She finished the season with a 10-6 record.

Reichhart's selection marks the first time she has earned First Team honors, after being selected to the second team in each of her first two years. This season, Reichhart batted .299 with nine doubles and 23 RBI, while making just four errors at first base, en route to a .981 fielding percentage.

Ripon's two second teamers, sophomores Jensen and Sockness, are both appearing on the All-Conference team for the first time. Jensen started the final 15 games of the season behind the plate, batting .286 with three home runs and 13 RBI. She also made just one error in 105 chances, giving her a team-best .990 fielding percentage. Sockness also gave the Red Hawk lineup a big boost. Sockness started all 34 games this season, primarily in left field, batting .293 with three doubles, 14 RBI and 18 runs scored, which was second on the team.
