Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

RIPON, Wis. - Just one day after defeating Beloit College in both games of a doubleheader, the Red Hawks took two more games from the Buccaneers, extending their conference record win streak to 25 consecutive games. Ripon took the first game 6-0, before getting a scare in game two, which the Red Hawks eventually won 4-3.

Ripon (11-8, 8-0) began the scoring in game one in the third inning, which was started off by back-to-back singles by Matt Dwyer and Chad Olson. Dwyer eventually scored on a Mac Shumann sacrifice, while Olson would score one batter later on a wild pitch.

The Red Hawks added to that lead in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring two runs in each of those frames. Dwyer and Olson would be the spark plugs once again in the fifth, as Shumann drove both players in on a two-out single to left field. Dwyer would play a role in the sixth inning as well. He singled home Brandon Birschbach, to give Ripon a 6-0 lead. That would be all they would need, as Beloit (8-12, 2-4) could never get a clutch hit when they needed one.

Greg Basthemer (2-2) scattered nine hits, while striking out eight Buccaneer batters for a complete game shutout. Dwyer and Olson were the only two Red Hawks with multiple hits. Dwyer finished with three, while Olson had two.

Dwyer showed he could fare just as well on the mound as he did at the plate, as he pitched a complete game in the nightcap. He improves his record to 3-1, while allowing six hits and striking out 10, including five through the first two innings.

The Red Hawks wasted no time getting on the board in game two, scoring two runs in the first. Shumann's RBI triple produced the first run, and he would score one batter later on a Chevy Schultz single to right.

Beloit took their first lead of the game in the third inning, thanks to two Red Hawk miscues in the field. They loaded the bases with one out and tied the game on a throwing error that saw two Buccaneer runners cross the plate. Beloit would take the lead later in the inning, as they scored a run on another Ripon error.

That lead didn't last long. Ripon tied the game in the bottom half of the third on a Schultz single to right field, which scored Kyle McFarland from second base. The Red Hawks would then take the lead back one inning later on a McFarland single.

The two teams put up goose eggs on the board the rest of the way, giving Ripon the four-game sweep. McFarland and Schultz each had three hits to lead the Red Hawks in game two. Schultz also drove in two runs. McFarland and Shumann drove in the other two.

Ripon will take a break from conference play this week, as they'll travel to Marian College Thursday for a doubleheader with the Sabres. The first game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Fond du Lac.
