RIPON, Wis. – Ripon College recently finished another successful season in which they advanced to the Regional playoffs for the fifth consecutive year. This week, a few players were awarded for their hard work and great play, as the Midwest All-Region Teams were released. Pitcher Jordan Baitinger was the lone Red Hawk selected to the first team. Second Baseman Chad Olson was named to the second team, while catcher John Dunlavy earned third team honors.
Baitinger, who finished off his final season with a no-hitter in his final collegiate start, was the ace on the mound all year long. The Weyauwega-Fremont product finished the season with a team-best 7-1 record, while also leading the Red Hawks in ERA (1.84), innings pitched (68.1), and strikeouts (44). Baitinger walked eight batters all season, as opponents hit just .213 against him.
Olson was the glue in the middle of the infield this season, starting all 37 games for the Red Hawks. The Brown Deer, Wis. native batted .349, while hitting six doubles and three home runs. Olson also finished with 24 RBI. As the lead off man in the batting order, Olson produced a lot of runs on the base paths, drawing 23 walks and stealing 14 bases in 16 attempts.
This marks the second All-Region selection for Dunlavy, who was named to the second team in 2004. This season, Dunlavy led the team in all three major batting categories, batting .380 with five home runs and 37 RBI. The Clintonville, Wis. native also led Ripon in total bases (79) and slugging percentage (.577), while also stealing seven bases in eight tries.
